Car Parking. There is space inside to park at least 10 cars. Coach has to be parked outside where there is wide road and sufficient space. Parking is free for visitors whereas there is a small charge for outsiders.

Films. There are DVD films of Gurkha history mostly made by BBC which you can see in the museum on a large screen. There is no charge to see these films. Most are over 25 minutes long. You need to ask a staff. At the moment they are not on sale as they have UK copy right. Copying is not allowed.

Library. On the ground floor next to the office is the library where there are hundreds of regimental magazines and books. Those who wish to research should write to the Manager. For a small cost, you can spend a number of days carrying out your project. Security and the maintenance of the old magazines are our concern and you will therefore not be allowed to take out any books from the library. All work has to be done there.

Photography. Visitors can take photographs while visiting the museum but should buy tickets at the counter for using still cameras and video, for which there are different charges. Those interested in commercial photography by professionals, film or television crew should write to the Manager first. This can be allowed if there is no clash with a group visit for which there will be a charge. In order to protect the display items from exposure to too much light which will reduce their life, photography is strictly controlled and permission must be asked before hand.

School Visits. These can be arranged if the school staff write to the Manager in advance. Usually, he will advice on group sizes, timings and programme to prevent from clashing with other group visits. Group visits will usually get a discount. For school children there are prepared questionnaires in English and Nepali and answers for teachers which can be collected from the Manager in advance and photocopied for their use during the visit. These questions cover Gurkha history for which answers are actually on display and will require the children to search by studying the display captions. School staff may wish to group children into 2s or 3s and have competitions in order to ensure that the children learn from the museum visit.

Toilets. There are European type toilets on the ground floor and on the third storey gallery. Ask a staff for direction.

Disabled People. Unfortunately there are no ramps for wheelchairs at the moment but if you ask, guards can help you to lift the wheelchair and move upstairs and downstairs.

Roof Hiring for Meeting/Lunch. The roof top has sufficient space to hold up to 100 people. There are tent pole holes prepared so that the catering agent can put up tents, bring chairs/tables and bring cooked food there. There is no cooking facility in the museum. The view from the roof top is breathtaking. You can see the Himalayan range very close and also some of Pokhara as the roof is over 30 feet high. There is no hiring charge but the Manager will order everything as requested at a charge that will cover everything.

Membership. Anyone can become a life member of the Gurkha Memorial Museum Nepal by completing a form held by the Manager. The benfits for a member are you will get a memberhip card, can visit the museum free, you will be invited to the AGM where there is free lunch and you have the right to vote. The current dues for membership are Rs 2,000 for a Nepali and Rs 5,000 for Non-Nepali. Unfortunately a non-Nepali has no right to vote under Nepali law.

Donations. The museum building was constructed mainly from funds donated by supporters. Fund is always required to repair or upgrade the displays, new technical items to improve the standard of displays in the galleries and to create an endownment fund to sustain the museum. Therefore, there are 3 types of donations for which cheuqes may be made payable to the Gurkha Memorial Trust.

A. Buy a Brick for the Museum. This is £100 or equivalent in Nepali Rs as decided by the museum. For this, your name will be engraved on individual steel plate displayed on the second storey gallery.
B. One Lakh. This is Rs 100,000 (about UK £700 depending on exchange rate). For this, you and your wife’s photograph and names will be displayed on marble on the ground floor. You will also be automatically made a life member and will get a card.
C. Corporate. Any organisation such as regimental organisation, commercial institute or wives club may donated fund above Rs One Lakh. The organisation name will be engraved on steel plate and displayed on the donors wall outside the top gallery.

Management Committee. The museum was regsitered under the Gurkha Memorial Trust in 1994 at Kathmandu. There are 11 members of the committee as per the charter. At the moment they are all retired members of the Brigade of Gurkhas, Indian Army and the Singapore Police Force.
